Knee & Hip Pain Physio in Athy

Physiotherapist assessing a patient's knee

Knee and hip pain can make stairs, squatting, running or getting up from a chair a struggle. Common causes include pain around the kneecap (patellofemoral pain), tendon problems, osteoarthritis and hip-related groin pain. Most of these respond well to physiotherapy.
How we help
We assess how your hip, knee and ankle work together and look at the load you put through them in sport, work and daily life. Strengthening the muscles around the hip and knee is one of the most effective treatments for most knee and hip pain, including osteoarthritis. We combine this with practical advice on managing your training or activity levels so you can keep active while you recover.
Your plan
1. Settle pain and restore movement.
2. Progressively strengthen the hip and knee muscles.
3. Return to running, sport or daily activities with confidence and a home programme.

How many sessions?
Most people need around five sessions. We review your progress against agreed milestones at each visit, and our aim is to get you managing on your own as soon as it's appropriate.
Cost
Initial consultation €80, follow-up session €70. If strength and conditioning would help you get back to running or sport, these sessions are €60.
